March Taste Test Rescheduled
We had to cancel the taste test last week. It is now This Thursday, March 26
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!
Brussels Sprouts taste test was great!
Not surprisingly, the kids had strong opinions. Half the kids loved them and half the kids hated them.
We would like to thank Purple Sage for procuring and donating both the Brussels sprouts and the raisins. And also thank The Farm, for again, deliciously preparing the Brussels sprouts for our children to enjoy.
Next taste test is Tuesday, February 24th. We will be tasting hummus!
Cookbook update: We are in editing stage, so we are hoping to go to print in March!
Snack cart update: We plan to start the snack cart in March. We are going to start off slowly and gradually add options and “features” one step at a time to ensure we do it well. We will start off with just fresh produce (mimicking McPolin snack program) to avoid any allergy complications. Once we get the process streamlined and the teachers feel it is not disruptive we will add more options to the cart. *We will be looking for volunteers to help one morning a week to prep the cart! Please let me know (email@example.com) if you are interested.
January Taste Test – This Tuesday, Jan 20
Another Taste Test is coming to JRES! The people from EATS –Eat Awesome Things at School - have partnered with the chefs from The Farm Restaurant at Canyons Resort to give our students a taste of deliciously caramelized Brussels sprouts. Kids around the world notoriously hate Brussels sprouts. We are so interested to see how many JRES children decide they like Brussels sprouts when they are fresh and simply prepared.
WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS!!!
How fun to see the kids’ reaction to Brussels sprouts. How exciting to see some of them realize they actually like it!
Look out for one more recipe request!! Thank you everyone for all your recipes, however, the last paper request that went out to all parents did not say that we were looking for healthy AND easy recipes. We received many recipes that all look fabulous, but not all were in the healthy AND easy category that EATS was looking for. So, I will be sending out one more paper request for easy AND healthy recipes. Thank you so much for your support of this very fun and beneficial project.
